The Apostle Paul has a great prayer for the gentile believers at Ephesus, “that you may know…what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1:18).  Has this prayer been answered? Is the gentile church aware of the riches of the glory of God’s inheritance?

The fight between Hobby Lobby and the U.S. Government portends difficult days ahead for people of faith. If you are not aware, Hobby Lobby has chosen to defy the new U.S. Government mandate that requires companies like Hobby Lobby to provide "emergency contraceptives" to their employees through their company-provided health insurance. The owners of Hobby Lobby, operating out of Christian convictions, refuse to provide "the morning-after pill" and other "contraceptives" that abort unborn children medically. By defying the Obama-inspired government mandate, the company is in danger of being fined over $1 million every day.

As I write this article, politicians on both sides of the aisle are deadlocked in debate over how to fix the so-called ¡°Fiscal Cliff,¡± which they themselves created. The cliff, in short, is a combination of higher taxes and lower government spending set to automatically kick in beginning January 1, 2013.

In this election season, many in the evangelical world have gone from not supporting Romney in the primary season to endorsing him in the general election. In my personal circle of influence, I donft know of any of my friends and associates who voted for Romney at the primary, but many--even most--are supportive of him in the general. The typical rationale for a Romney vote is that he is not as bad as Obama.

In days of trial ahead, finding like-minded believers will be essential. We are instructed in Hebrews to avoid forsaking the assembly of believers, and to, "… consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds" (Hebrews 10:24, NASB95). Just as Bonhoeffer saw the need for a true "confessing church" in the days of Nazi Germany, there will also be a need for a network of individuals who hold a Biblical world view, a network that can care for each other in need, grieve with each other in sorrow, and "stimulate one another to love and good deeds."

I am going to utter what some believe should be unutterable: Obama wins the upcoming election. Already I've offended some of my listeners and readers. I know there is a large group of people that believe if you say it, it will happen. They will accuse me of being too negative, faithless, and of discouraging the committed. Sadly, we seem to be a society that is unable to accept the reality of bad news. Many of my politically conservative friends are so convinced that Obama is a danger to American that they cannot fathom how he could win...again.

It is impossible to read the Old Testament and conclude anything other than the fact that God chose the nation of Israel and her people, the Jews, to be His chosen nation through whom He would accomplish His chosen task of walking among His created order. This experience was realized just for a brief time in the Garden of Eden, but with the sin of Adam and Eve, the experience was lost, waiting for a Redeemer, an anointed Messiah to remedy the problem. Through time, God chose Abraham and promised through him a great nation, one that would bless all the families of the world. It was through this nation that God's Messiah would establish God's presence among men once again.

One of the most commonly misused theological words of our culture is the word repent. It is misused by both non-believers and believers, clergy and laity, educated and uneducated, Protestant and Catholic. catholic. It is, sadly, almost universally misused. In fact, it is so misused that the dictionaries have come to define it by its usage, not its meaning.
